Clinical Specialist - Wound Closure and Sutures
About the role
A global surgical device manufacturer with more than a decade in the market is building its first local sales team in South Africa. This is the founding Gauteng hire for their wound closure division.
It is a field sales role with a clinical spine. You will be in theatre with surgeons supporting cases, and you will sell the suture and wound closure range across Gauteng. You build the territory yourself, from your own leads. Perform, and the territory grows to national.
This is not a remote role. You are in hospitals and theatres across Gauteng every week.
What you will do
Sell the suture and wound closure range to surgeons, theatre teams and hospital decision-makers across Gauteng. Provide hands-on clinical support during surgical procedures. Generate all of your own leads, because there is no lead list waiting for you. Deliver product demonstrations, in-service training and clinical education to surgeons, theatre nurses and hospital staff. Build and hold relationships with Key Opinion Leaders. Grow the Gauteng territory, with country-wide responsibility on strong performance.
The package is R30,000 to R35,000 per month, engaged as a consultant contracted directly to the client.
Requirements
Suture or wound closure experience. This is the deal breaker. Selling them, or supporting them in theatre. If you have come from Ethicon or Johnson and Johnson MedTech, B Braun, Medtronic wound closure, Smith and Nephew, Synthecon, Purple Surgical, Baroque Medical, Coloplast, Convatec, Molnlycke or HARTMANN, we want to hear from you.
3 to 7 years as a Clinical Specialist, Clinical Support Specialist or medical device sales representative.
A completed bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, nursing, life sciences, radiography, clinical technology, dietetics, biokinetics or a related healthcare discipline. Candidates holding a bachelor's degree in another discipline will be considered where they can evidence a strong wound closure or suture sales track record.
Based in Gauteng, with a live network of Gauteng surgeons and hospitals, a valid driving licence and your own reliable vehicle.
Proven ability to self-generate leads and build a pipeline from nothing.
Confidence selling face to face to surgeons and specialists.
Nice to have: CRICE accreditation for theatre protocols and SAMED accreditation. Experience selling into Netcare, Mediclinic or Life Healthcare. Tender and procurement experience with private hospital groups.
