Job Summary
The Clinical Supervisor provides day-to-day clinical supervision to designated clinical staff at the assigned BRC site. This role holds sign-off authority and supervisory scope consistent with the incumbent's active clinical credential (e.g., LCDC II, LCDC III, LSW, or other qualifying Ohio credential). Any clinical or billing area outside the incumbent's specific scope of practice — such as independent SUD diagnostic authority for a non-LCDC-credentialed supervisor, or supervision of more highly credentialed staff — is supported by the Assistant Clinical Director as an ongoing operational overlay.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide clinical supervision and case consultation to assigned clinical staff at the assigned site, within the incumbent's scope of practice
- Review and sign off on billing documentation and clinical records for completeness and compliance, within scope of licensure
- Support treatment planning, case reviews, and quality of care for clients served by supervised staff
- Coordinate with the Assistant Clinical Director on any documentation, billing, or diagnostic matter outside the incumbent's scope of practice
- Monitor supervised staff caseloads, documentation timeliness, and adherence to BRC and payer standards
- Participate in staff training, onboarding, and professional development within scope
- Support incident reviews, audits, and CARF accreditation preparation as needed
- Escalate matters outside of the incumbent's scope of practice to the Assistant Clinical Director or Clinical Director as appropriate
- Perform other clinical supervisory duties as assigned
Scope and Authority
The specific supervisory and sign-off scope of this role is determined by the incumbent's active credential and corresponding Ohio scope-of-practice rules (e.g., OCDP for chemical dependency credentials, counselor/social work board rules for LSW/LPC-track credentials). At minimum:
- Sign-off authority extends only as far as the incumbent's credential independently permits
- Any billing, documentation, or diagnostic area outside that scope (for example, independent SUD diagnostic sign-off for a supervisor whose credential does not cover it) routes through the Assistant Clinical Director on an ongoing basis
- This role does not independently supervise staff credentialed at a higher or different scope than the incumbent holds; that supervision routes through the Clinical Director or Assistant Clinical Director
- Scope may expand if the incumbent obtains a higher or independent credential during employment; any such change should be reported to Human Resources and reflected in updated documentation
