Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (occasional evenings and weekends required)
Location: Multi-site rotation required (Franklinton, Whitehall, Madison Health)

Job Summary:
As a Counselor at Basecamp Recovery Center, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey. You will conduct clinical assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide both individual and group counseling services. Your goal will be to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety, enhance their overall well-being, and successfully reintegrate into their communities.
Core Responsibilities:
Clinical Service Delivery
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments using standardized tools and clinical interviews to evaluate substance use history, mental health status, and client needs
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances
- Provide high-quality individual and group substance use and mental health counseling services
- Maintain an assigned caseload while continually assessing clients for risk, including lethality, suicidality, and safety concerns
- Respond promptly and effectively to crises, relapses, or mental health emergencies
- Deliver prevention, consultation, and educational services to clients and community organizations as assigned
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, and discharge summaries
- Ensure compliance with 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, state regulations, and all agency policies and procedures
- Adhere to ethical codes (ACA, NASW, AAMFT), client rights regulations, and applicable local, state, and federal laws
- Complete all required documentation within established timeframes
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Actively participate in daily morning huddles, clinical team meetings, general staff meetings, and management meetings as scheduled
- Establish and maintain professional, supportive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partners
- Serve as a liaison between Basecamp and external community resources to ensure continuity of care
- Assume caseloads of fellow counselors during absences due to illness, emergencies, or vacations as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members (psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, peer support specialists) to coordinate comprehensive care
Professional Development
- Remain current on research, best practices, and advancements in substance use and mental health treatment
- Participate in ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and continuing education to enhance clinical skills and maintain licensure requirements
- Attend required training sessions on confidentiality, safety protocols, trauma-informed care, and cultural competency
Other Duties
- Work occasional evenings and weekends to accommodate client schedules and program needs
- Travel between multiple facility locations (Franklinton, Whitehall, Madison Health) as required
- Uphold the Mission Statement and core values of Basecamp Recovery Center in all interactions
- Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Director or management
Job Duties:
- Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM level of care determinations
- Facilitate individual therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, MI, trauma-informed care)
- Lead group counseling sessions on topics including relapse prevention, coping skills, life skills, and recovery support
- Develop SMART treatment goals in collaboration with clients
- Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as needed
- Coordinate care with external providers including primary care physicians, psychiatrists, probation officers, and family members
- Complete required clinical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) system daily
- Participate in utilization review and quality assurance activities
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for clients experiencing acute distress
- Make appropriate referrals to community resources for housing, employment, legal services, and medical care
- Educate clients and families about addiction, recovery, and available resources
- Maintain professional boundaries while demonstrating compassion and cultural sensitivity
- Document client attendance, participation, and progress toward treatment goals
- Complete discharge summaries and aftercare planning for transitioning clients
