Cloud and Data Engineer

Salary: RM 7,000 – RM 9,000 per month

About the role

We are looking for a Cloud Data Engineer to build, operate and optimise our Azure and Microsoft Fabric environment, keeping our infrastructure and data pipelines reliable, secure and cost-efficient.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure, including Azure virtual machines, networking and VPN connectivity, storage, and Microsoft Fabric workspaces.

• Monitor the health and capacity of hosts, containers and services; detect, triage and resolve incidents promptly, with clear escalation and follow-up.

• Contribute to the design, development and maintenance of data pipelines, including SQL and Python-based transformations.

• Operate and support containerised workloads and data-streaming services, ensuring reliability, scalability and performance.

• Automate deployments and scheduled jobs using scripts and CI/CD pipelines to improve consistency and reduce manual effort.

• Review user access, service principals, secrets and permissions regularly to ensure least-privilege and compliance with security standards.

• Perform backup and recovery checks and apply security patches to keep systems resilient and secure.

• Review cloud spend and Microsoft Fabric capacity unit (CU) consumption, and propose optimisation measures.

• Support teammates with infrastructure requests in a timely and service-minded manner.

• Maintain the task tracker and report progress and risks to your manager.

• Keep infrastructure documentation and runbooks accurate and up to date.

Requirements

• Diploma / Degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer/Network Engineering or a related field; cloud certifications (e.g. AZ-900/AZ-104, DP-700) are a plus.

• Hands-on experience with Azure (VMs, networking/VPN, storage) and Microsoft Fabric or a comparable data platform.

• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience building and maintaining data pipelines.

• Experience with containers (e.g. Docker) and CI/CD pipelines, plus scripting for automation (PowerShell, Bash or Python).

• Familiarity with monitoring tools and handling production incidents.

• Understanding of cloud security fundamentals, including access management, service principals and secrets management.

• Strong troubleshooting skills, clear communication, and the ability to write good documentation.

• Experience with data-streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, Event Hubs) is added advantage.

• Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Bicep).

• Cloud cost and capacity optimisation experience.
