Cloud Architect (GCP)
Description
Role & responsibilities
Job Description: Cloud Architect (GCP)
Experience: 8+ years overall (812 years preferred) • Primary platform: Google Cloud Platform •
Location: Banglore / Hybrid
Role summary
We are looking for a Cloud Architect with GCP as the primary platform to design, secure and govern
cloud solutions for enterprise clients. You will lead architecture for migrations, modernization and cloud-
native builds, guide DevOps and engineering teams, and support pre-sales with solutioning and
estimation. Multi-cloud exposure (AWS/Azure) is a plus, but GCP depth is the core requirement.
Key responsibilities
- Design scalable, secure, cost-optimized architectures on GCP (landing zones, networking, IAM,
resource hierarchy, shared VPC).
- Lead cloud migration and application modernization programs: lift-and-shift, re-platform and
cloud-native refactoring.
- Architect container platforms on GKE and serverless solutions (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions,
Apigee, Pub/Sub).
- Define Infrastructure as Code standards using Terraform (Deployment Manager is a plus) and
build reusable modules.
- Establish CI/CD and DevSecOps practices (Cloud Build, Jenkins/GitLab, SonarQube, artifact and
image scanning).
- Implement security and governance: IAM and least privilege, Security Command Center, VPC
Service Controls, KMS, org policies, compliance (ISO 27001, CIS).
- Set up observability and operations with Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring and third-party tools
(Splunk, Dynatrace, ELK).
- Drive FinOps: cost visibility, rightsizing, committed use discounts and budgets.
- Prepare HLD/LLD documents, review designs and ensure traceability to business requirements.
- Support RFP responses, pre-sales solutioning and effort estimation; present to client
stakeholders.
- Mentor engineers and work with Agile delivery teams.
Required qualifications
- 8+ years in IT infrastructure and cloud, with at least 45 years of hands-on architecture work
on GCP.
- Mandatory GCP certification: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect. Additional
Professional certifications (DevOps Engineer, Security Engineer, Network Engineer, Data
Engineer) are a strong plus.
- Strong hands-on experience with GCE, GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, VPC, Load Balancing, IAM,
Cloud Logging and Monitoring.
- Proven experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- Containers and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, hybrid connectivity (Interconnect, VPN) and security
best practices.
- Experience delivering at least 2–3 end-to-end cloud migration or modernization projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Good to have
- Working knowledge of AWS and/or Azure (multi-cloud or hybrid designs); AWS Solutions
Architect or CKA certification.
- Experience with Apigee, BigQuery or data and AI services on GCP.
- Vulnerability management and patch management on cloud (OS Patch Management,
Qualys/Nessus).
- ITIL foundation; exposure to regulated industries (healthcare, insurance, manufacturing).
- Pre-sales, RFP and estimation experience.
