Cloud Architect
Summary
Individual-contributor Cloud Architect at Linedata (financial software provider) in Mumbai, designing and governing secure, resilient and cost-effective cloud solutions on AWS and Azure — reference architectures, landing zones, IaC standards, migration planning and FinOps. Requires 8+ years in cloud; works UK shift hours (1–10pm).
Role : Cloud Architect
Location : Mumbai
Shift : UK Shift(1-10pm)
Experience : Minimum 8 years in cloud technologies
Role Type : Individual Contributor (no people management responsibilities)
THE ROLE
Linedata provides critical financial software to well-known global banking and asset management institutions. The Linedata Information Technology team is strengthening its global cloud operations, automation and architecture capability.
Design and govern secure, resilient and cost-effective cloud solutions across AWS and Azure. The role translates business and technology needs into implementable architectures, maintains reusable standards and guardrails, and assures delivery so that cloud services remain consistent, supportable and aligned to enterprise risk and transformation objectives. This is an Individual Contributor (IC) role with no direct reports. Candidates currently working as Cloud Architects, as well as strong Cloud Engineers ready to step into an architecture role, will be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create current-state, transition and target architectures for cloud platforms, shared services, migrations and material service changes.
- Define and maintain cloud reference architectures, landing-zone patterns, guardrails and standards covering identity, networking, compute, data, encryption, backup, recovery, observability, tagging and policy.
- Lead solution-option assessments and architecture reviews, documenting decisions, assumptions, dependencies, risks, costs and non-functional requirements.
- Ensure designs meet security, regulatory, data-residency, resilience, operational-support and customer commitments by design rather than through late remediation.
- Provide technical governance for AWS and Azure implementations, including exceptions, waivers and remediation of architectural debt.
- Partner with Cloud Operations to ensure designs are monitorable, recoverable, patchable, supportable and suitable for operational acceptance.
- Work with the DevOps Architect and Automation Engineer to turn standards into reusable infrastructure-as-code modules, policies and deployment patterns.
- Apply FinOps principles to architecture choices, modelling consumption and lifecycle cost and ensuring optimisation does not undermine resilience or security.
- Support migration planning, dependency analysis, cutover strategy and post-migration assurance for workloads moving into or between cloud environments.
- Maintain architecture artefacts and roadmaps, communicate them clearly and coach engineers and delivery partners in their practical use.
MUST-HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud technologies, with depth in solution or infrastructure architecture.
- Strong cloud solution-architecture experience, with depth in AWS and meaningful working knowledge of Azure, or vice versa.
- Track record designing production services for availability, resilience, security, scalability, operability and cost control.
- Experience with landing zones, identity (IAM, Azure AD / Entra ID), networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, VNet peering), cloud-native services and migration architecture.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment.
- Experience working within formal architecture governance and regulated or customer-audited environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud security controls, encryption, backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ability to produce clear architecture documentation, diagrams (e.g. using draw.io, Lucidchart) and decision records.
GOOD-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- Professional-level AWS or Azure architecture certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Architecture-framework certification (e.g. TOGAF, AWS Well-Architected).
- Experience in financial services, asset management or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost management tools.
- Knowledge of containerisation and serverless architectures.
- Experience with observability platforms (e.g. Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor).
COMPETENCIES
- Architecture judgement Structured architectural thinking combined with sufficient engineering depth to validate feasibility.
- Communication Clear communication of options and trade-offs to both technical teams and decision-makers.
- Secure and resilient design Security-, resilience- and operations-aware design judgement.
- Collaborative governance Collaborative governance that improves consistency without creating unnecessary delay.
- Documentation and mentoring – Strong documentation, facilitation, stakeholder management and technical mentoring.
