Summary
Supports and troubleshoots cloud data platforms on Microsoft Azure for a South Africa-based client in a remote role: resolving incidents using SQL, T-SQL, Python and Spark, building monitoring dashboards and alerts, and automating operations with Python, PowerShell or Bash.
My client is looking for a Cloud Data Platform Support Engineer, based in South Africa, with a Remote work model.
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in cloud support engineering, cloud operations, or data engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud data platforms (data warehouses, pipelines, distributed compute).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues using SQL, T-SQL, Python, and Spark.
- Experience with cloud-native monitoring and observability tools.
- Understanding of incident management practices (escalation, RCA, prevention).
- Experience building automation with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Ability to develop dashboards, alerts, and monitoring frameworks.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Synapse, Spark, Kubernetes, or Fabric (advantageous).
- Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- Azure certifications or cloud certifications beneficial.
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines advantageous.
