Cloud Engineer - AWS (IGT1)
Summary
Maintains and automates Windows-based AWS workloads, troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and collaborating with global teams to ensure high availability and incident response.
About the role:
The Cloud Engineer is a key technical member of Rhapsody’s global Cloud Operations team, responsible for the stability reliability, and operational excellence of our Windows‑based workloads running on AWS. This role blends hands‑on Windows systems engineering with cloud infrastructure automation, deep troubleshooting, deployment support, and customer‑facing collaboration. You will partner with Engineering, SRE, Security, and the Global Operations team to ensure high availability, rapid incident response, and continuous improvement across Windows services and supporting cloud components.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain AWS-based production environments.
- Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server systems.
- Deploy and manage infrastructure using Terraform and automation tools.
- Develop and maintain scripts using Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
- Monitor platform health, performance, and availability.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, operating system, and application issues.
- Participate in incident response, problem management, and root cause analysis activities.
- Perform system maintenance, patching, and upgrade activities.
- Support customer onboarding, deployments, and operational activities.
- Collaborate with Cloud Operations, Engineering, Support, and Customer Success teams.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide secondary support for Identity Cloud Operations services and infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on AWS experience.
- Experience administering Windows Server environments.
- Experience with Terraform, Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting technologies.
- Experience with GitHub, Jira, and Confluence.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable participating in customer-facing calls and technical discussions.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours for maintenance activities when required.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS networking, VPCs, VPNs, routing, and security groups.
- Experience with firewall technologies such as Sophos or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting SaaS or healthcare technology environments.
Shift & On‑Call Expectations
- Participate in a defined shift schedule supporting US/UK/APAC operations.
- Participate in the rotational on‑call roster for P1/P2 incidents.
- Maintain strong communication and accurate status updates during handoffs.
Education
- College degree in Computer and/or IT‑related field preferred
- Demonstrated experience can be substituted for a degree
- AWS certification preferred (Solutions Architect, SysOps, or Windows‑relevant specialty)
