Cloud Engineer

Salary: Up to $150k + Super

Cloud Engineer

Azure | AWS | Automation | Security | Infrastructure as Code

Cadence Connect is partnering with an established Brisbane organisation to recruit an experienced Cloud Engineer. Joining a mature technology environment, you'll play a key role designing, supporting and continuously improving enterprise cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS.

Working across Azure and AWS environments, you'll take ownership of cloud platforms that underpin critical business operations. From engineering secure, scalable infrastructure through to automating deployments and driving continuous improvement, you'll have the autonomy to influence how the environment evolves while working alongside a collaborative team of experienced technology professionals.

This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving existing environments and delivering practical outcomes. If you thrive on building resilient cloud platforms rather than simply maintaining them, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Cloud Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, administration and optimisation of cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS. Working across both BAU operations and project delivery, you'll help ensure cloud environments remain secure, reliable and highly available while contributing to the ongoing evolution of the organisation's cloud capability.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing, implementing and supporting cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Building and maintaining highly available compute, networking, storage, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Automating cloud deployments, configuration management and operational tasks using PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code technologies.
  • Managing Microsoft Entra ID, identity services, role-based access controls and cloud security policies.
  • Monitoring platform performance, availability and capacity while proactively identifying opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshooting complex cloud and infrastructure issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term technical solutions.
  • Supporting cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades and broader technology improvement initiatives.
  • Working collaboratively with internal technology teams to deliver reliable, secure and scalable cloud services.
  • Producing and maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures and engineering standards.
About You

You're an experienced Cloud or Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys building secure, scalable platforms and takes pride in delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.

You enjoy taking ownership, solving technical challenges and continuously improving the environments you support. Whether your background is within an enterprise organisation or a managed services environment, you're passionate about modern cloud technologies and engineering best practice.
To be successful, you'll bring:
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Exposure to AWS or multi-cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capability.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, ARM, Bicep or similar.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, identity management and cloud security principles.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access controls and hybrid identity solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across cloud and infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience supporting highly available production environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
What's on Offer

This is an opportunity to join an organisation that continues to invest in both its technology and its people. You'll work within a collaborative engineering team where technical excellence is valued, continuous improvement is encouraged and you'll have genuine ownership over the cloud platforms you support.
In return, you'll receive:
  • Up to $150,000 + Super
  • Hybrid working arrangements (2 days from home).
  • Exposure to enterprise Azure and AWS environments.
  • Genuine technical ownership and autonomy.
  • A collaborative, high-performing technology team.
  • The opportunity to influence the ongoing evolution of a modern cloud environment.
  • Long-term career growth within an organisation committed to technology investment.
