Cloud Engineer

Summary

Manages and secures AWS/Azure cloud infrastructure, monitors performance, resolves incidents, and automates operations using IaC and scripting.

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Operations Engineer with strong hands-on experience in AWS or Microsoft Azure. The candidate will be responsible for managing cloud infrastructure, ensuring operational stability, supporting incident resolution, and driving continuous improvement of cloud services.

In addition to technical responsibilities, providing some technical guidance, and helping to develop operational best practices within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support cloud infrastructure hosted on AWS and Azure.
  • Monitor cloud environments to ensure availability, performance, security, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure incidents and service disruptions.
  • Perform patching, maintenance, backup, recovery, and operational support activities.
  • Implement and maintain cloud security controls and governance requirements.
  • Manage cloud resources, costs, and capacity planning.
  • Support automation initiatives using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting tools.
  • Work closely with project teams, vendors, and customers on cloud-related activities.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation.
  • Coach and mentor junior cloud engineers on cloud technologies, operational processes, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Participate in on-call support and major incident management when required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of IT infrastructure or cloud operations experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking, security, compute, storage, and monitoring services.
  • Experience with cloud operational support, incident management, and problem management.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM/Bicep.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Good understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.

Preferred

  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, Administrator).
  • Microsoft Azure Certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
  • Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience in enterprise-grade Cloud environment e.g. GCC.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working in a managed services or enterprise operations environment.
