The Cloud Engineer will design, automate, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure and full-stack web applications for Department of Defense customers using AWS, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines. The role involves refactoring legacy code, integrating authentication services, and collaborating within an agile team environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the A&A Team to maintain security requirements for operation of systems
- Maintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize for cost efficiencies, authentication, search, etc.)
- Produce detailed documentation
- Maintain systems in an AWS environment using EC2, S3, Load Balancer, and RDS
- Automate and optimize service deployments
- Deliver a full-stack web application to production; identify and resolve operational issues
- Actively participate in the technical requirements-gathering process (i.e., meetings with customers)
- Execute design and implementation of application features independently, with minimal oversight
- Refactor legacy application code for improved reliability and maintainability
- Mentor junior developers
- Write and read unit tests; apply code-quality analysis concepts
- Write and debug JavaScript, TypeScript, or a closely related language
- Develop applications backed by a relational database; apply relational database design concepts
- Provide technical support to customers and participate in scrums and other agile team meetings
Required Skills:
- 8+ years of IT experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
- Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements, including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA
- Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services
- Experience automating tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Perl
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
- Familiarity with DevOps development processes and Continuous Integration tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus
- Extensive TypeScript or JavaScript background
- Angular frontend framework; UI/UX design
- Microservice-based backend architecture; integrating with COTS/FOSS software REST APIs
- Experience supporting a full-stack application in a PaaS environment
- CI/CD pipeline implementation, ideally with GitLab
- Creating and deploying containerized applications, ideally with Docker
- Designing and implementing container orchestration with Kubernetes
Desired Skills:
- Strong understanding of cloud APIs and interaction with the AWS CLI
- Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, or Java)
- Experience with the Go programming language
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Markdown, and portal development
- Database experience with a Postgres backend
- Strong communication skills
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification
