Activities:
- FinOps Automation & Engineering: Think strategically with the team on how to migrate, optimize, build, and architect the current data model into a new data management model using public cloud offerings (GCP or AWS), always maintaining an automation mindset.
- End-to-End Data Model Ownership: Own the entire data lifecycle—collecting, extracting, and cleaning large-scale cloud billing and multi-cloud usage data, while understanding the underlying source systems.
- Pipeline Construction & Maintenance: Design and build production data pipelines from ingestion to consumption within a hybrid big data architecture.
- Continuous Improvement & Scaling: Add new data sources, code business rules, and produce new metrics to support reports and scorecards used to drive C-level executive decisions.
- Advisory & Optimization: Advise and provide recommendations on potential areas where data streams can be optimized.
- Architecture & Data Quality: Apply data quality standards (availability, integrity, confidentiality, timeliness, frequency, and completeness) to support analytical requirements.
- Indexing & Transformation: Transform data, manage data reuse, and index data for performance optimization.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Interact with diverse roles (cloud optimization engineers, technical account managers, architects, financial controllers) and engage global suppliers/partners to solve technical challenges.
Requirements:
- Professional Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or equivalent experience.
- Public Cloud Experience: Proven experience in solution building and architecting with public cloud offerings such as GCP (e.g., BigQuery, DataPrep, Looker Studio/DataStudio) or AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, Athena).
- Quality & Testing: Experience in test automation and ensuring data quality across multiple analytical datasets.
- Big Data & APIs: Strong command of Big Data architectural best practices and solid understanding of building RESTful APIs.
- Strong proficiency in Python and GCP databases.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database techniques and systems, database design, data modeling, and normalization.
- Ability to build data pipelines using any development language.
