Cloud Enterprise Architect
Summary
Sets architecture direction for secure, resilient cloud and infrastructure environments serving federal customers — defining reference architectures across AWS, Azure, GCP and hybrid, leading migration/modernization efforts, and designing to NIST, FedRAMP, and Zero Trust requirements. Leads via technical direction and stakeholder advising, not people management.
The Job:
We are looking for an Enterprise Cloud Architect to set the architecture direction for secure, resilient cloud and infrastructure environments serving federal customers. You will define the standards and designs that engineering teams build to, guide modernization and migration work, and advise technical and executive stakeholders. This role leads through technical direction rather than managing a team.
What You Will Do:
- Define reference architectures and standards for cloud and infrastructure across AWS, Azure, hybrid, and Google Cloud
- Design for availability, resiliency, scalability, and disaster recovery
- Lead architecture for cloud migration and infrastructure modernization
- Design to NIST, FedRAMP, and Zero Trust requirements, and lead security architecture reviews with cybersecurity teams
- Run architecture reviews and governance and define architecture requirements for service management and operational readiness
- Advise program and executive stakeholders and mentor engineers and junior architects
Here's What You Need:
- 7+ years of experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering and architecture, including 3+ years as an architect or senior technical lead
- Deep design experience in AWS or Azure, with working knowledge of the other
- Strong grounding in networking, compute, storage, virtualization, and Windows and Linux environments
- Experience designing highly available, resilient architectures, including disaster recovery
- Knowledge of NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and ATO processes, plus identity and Zero Trust architecture
- Understanding of infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and DevSecOps well enough to set standards and review designs
- Working knowledge of ITIL and observability platforms
- The ability to explain trade-offs clearly to executives and engineers
- Must have an active Top Secret clearance
Would Be Nice To Have:
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect certification
- CISSP or equivalent, and ITIL certification
- Experience in federal agencies or other highly regulated environments
- Experience with data center consolidation or enterprise modernization programs
- Familiarity with cloud cost management
