Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Summary
Junior cloud infrastructure role (0–2 yrs, fresh grads welcome) on JAPFA Comfeed's internal team: provisioning and maintaining AWS resources (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda), writing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK, and monitoring with Datadog and AWS Cost Explorer.
We are looking for motivated Cloud Infrastructure engineers who are passionate about building reliable, secure, and scalable systems to join our team in designing, provisioning, and maintaining our AWS environment, with a strong focus on infrastructure automation and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
• Provision, configure, and maintain AWS infrastructure resources such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and related services.
• Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to ensure consistent and repeatable deployments.
• Implement and maintain AWS IAM policies and roles following the principle of least privilege, in collaboration with the security team.
• Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and cost using Datadog and AWS Cost Explorer, and respond to incidents and alerts to minimize downtime.
• Investigate and troubleshoot infrastructure issues (e.g., performance, permission, and resource failures) by analyzing Datadog metrics and logs together with AWS configurations, perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence, and escalate network-related issues to the network team with clear findings.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability initiatives across AWS regions and availability zones.
• Develop, review, and maintain infrastructure SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation.
• Stay up to date with AWS services and best practices, and recommend improvements to reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or other related fields.
• 0–2 years of experience in cloud, system administration, or infrastructure roles.
(Fresh graduates with relevant skills, projects, or labs are welcome to apply.)
• Basic hands-on experience with AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS).
• Good understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line administration.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Basic scripting ability in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with Datadog, or a solid understanding of monitoring fundamentals (metrics, logs, alerting) and willingness to learn Datadog.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical, detail-oriented approach: able to dig into logs, metrics, and configurations to isolate the root cause of an issue rather than only fixing the symptoms.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail, strong sense of ownership, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
• AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate.
(Certifications are a plus, not a requirement.)
• Understanding of network topology and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, subnetting, load balancing), including how AWS VPCs, subnets, and security groups fit together.
• Hands-on experience with Datadog dashboards, monitors, and integrations.
• Basic experience with containers (Docker) and AWS container services (ECS or EKS).
• Understanding of AWS security best practices and the shared responsibility model.
• Familiarity with AWS cost management and optimization.
• Experience with version control systems (Git).
• A portfolio of AWS projects, home labs, or IaC repositories is a plus.
