Cloud Network Engineer

Salary: £35,000 - 49,000 per year

Requirements:

• Were looking for deep expertise in public cloud services at scale, with hands-on AWS and Google Cloud networking experience, including internet application hosting, network segmentation, security controls, firewalls, packet mirroring and inspection, and content delivery networks.
• We need experience with B2B connectivity, third-party connectivity patterns, cloud B2B architectures, VPNs, AWS PrivateLink, and Google Cloud Private Service Connect.
• We need experience with application resiliency, DNS and DNS routing, AWS Route 53, Google Cloud DNS, load balancers, high availability, resiliency, and API platforms.
• Were looking for experience with hybrid cloud connectivity solutions such as Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, VPN, and SD-WAN, as well as TCP/IP, BGP, routing, network segmentation, firewalls, and network security principles.
• We need experience with cloud network monitoring, logging, and alerting tools; Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Network as Code (NaC); and automation using Python and Go.
• Were looking for experience with CI/CD tools such as Harness, Tekton, or Jenkins, and automated testing tools such as Terratest, Cucumber, Pytest-BDD, AWS Fault Injection Simulator, or Chaos Mesh.
• We need experience applying DevOps, agile, and SRE practices to cloud networks, including monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response, and performance optimisation.
• Were looking for strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and adaptability.
• This client will only accept workers operating via an Umbrella or PAYE engagement model.

Responsibilities:

• We need you to design, implement, and manage network architectures across AWS and Google Cloud, including VPC/VNet design, subnetting, routing, IP addressing, and network segmentation.
• We need you to establish and maintain secure, high-performance connectivity between on-premise data centres and public cloud environments using Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, VPNs, and SD-WAN integration.
• We need you to develop, maintain, and optimise cloud network infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Deployment Manager, and create reusable modules and blueprints.
• We need you to configure and manage DNS, load balancing, API gateways, and content delivery networks.
• We need you to automate cloud network resource provisioning and management, and develop scripts and tools to improve consistency and operational efficiency.
• We need you to own network service reliability, performance, and availability; implement monitoring, alerting, and logging; and participate in on-call rotations to respond to and resolve incidents.
• We need you to implement network security best practices, including access control lists, security groups, cloud firewalls, and intrusion detection and prevention systems, and support compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• We need you to collaborate with engineering and security teams, maintain clear technical documentation, and support the development of junior engineers.
