Cloud Network Engineer - L3

Summary

Design, build, and troubleshoot AWS cloud networks (VPCs, transit gateways, load balancers) and hybrid links, then automate and monitor them with Terraform, Ansible, and CloudWatch/Datadog.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support AWS cloud networking services including VPCs, Subnets, Route Tables, Internet Gateways, NAT Gateways, Transit Gateway, VPC Peering, Security Groups, NACLs, ALB/NLB, VPN, and Direct Connect.
  • Provide SME-level support and technical leadership for cloud network operations, architecture, and service optimization.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex cloud networking incidents, connectivity issues, routing problems, latency, packet loss, and load balancer issues.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for P1/P2 incidents and drive Major Incident Management activities.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions to reduce recurring incidents and improve service stability.
  • Manage hybrid cloud connectivity solutions including AWS Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, Transit Gateway, and on-premises integrations.
  • Execute approved cloud networking changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities following ITIL-aligned change management processes.
  • Support cloud transformation and modernization initiatives including VPC redesign, Transit Gateway adoption, network segmentation, and load balancer modernization.
  • Implement and maintain cloud network security controls, ensuring compliance with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation solutions using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting technologies.
  • Drive automation, self-healing capabilities, and operational efficiency improvements through reusable workflows and cloud-native solutions.
  • Implement and support cloud network monitoring, observability, and reporting using CloudWatch, Datadog, and Grafana.
  • Perform capacity planning, performance analysis, and optimization to ensure scalable and resilient cloud network services.
  • Collaborate with Security, Cloud, Infrastructure, Application, and Operations teams to deliver reliable and secure cloud networking solutions.
  • Drive Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) initiatives, identify optimization opportunities, and contribute to network transformation and innovation programs.

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in AWS Cloud Networking, including VPC, Subnets, Route Tables, Transit Gateway, VPC Peering, Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, Internet Gateway, NAT Gateway, ALB, and NLB.
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Networking protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, Routing, and Switching.
  • Experience managing Hybrid Cloud Connectivity between AWS, on-premise data centers, branch locations, and third-party environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Network Security including Security Groups, Network ACLs, network segmentation, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Route 53, DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (IPAM/DDI) solutions.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and API-based automation for network operations and cloud provisioning.
  • Experience with Cloud Monitoring and Observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, and Grafana.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across network performance, routing, latency, packet loss, DNS, load balancing, and cloud connectivity domains.
  • Experience with ITIL-based operational processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Network Architecture, Design Standards, and Best Practices for scalability, resilience, and high availability.
  • Experience in Cloud Migration, Network Modernization, and Transformation Programs, including VPC redesign and Transit Gateway adoption.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git repositories, and DevOps practices for infrastructure deployment and management.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and cloud service provider escalations for complex technical issues.
  • Strong capabilities in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Capacity Planning, Performance Optimization, and Continuous Service Improvement (CSI).

Experience and Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in Enterprise Networking.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in AWS Cloud Networking.
  • Experience managing large-scale enterprise cloud environments.
  • Strong experience with hybrid cloud connectivity and data center integration.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production environments.
  • Experience in Managed Services and ITIL-based operational environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience across cloud, network, and security domains.
  • Experience driving cloud transformation and modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and cloud operations.
