Job Summary

The Cloud Platform Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing core components of the cloud infrastructure that support business services, with a focus on improving availability, reliability, and operational excellence. This role works within an agile, cross-functional team managing a customer cloud environment encompassing hundreds of servers and multiple cloud service implementations (SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS). The engineer is expected to apply strong hands-on expertise in cloud technologies, maintain configuration standards, and stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices.

Responsibilities | CORE

  • Set up, test, implement, and maintain technologies in AWS cloud environments.

  • Set up, test, integrate, and support CI/CD tools and pipelines.

  • Architect and develop cloud solutions to meet project and service requirements.

  • Work in an agile, cross-functional team; actively engage to ensure team and delivery success.

  • Solve complex technical problems independently and collaboratively.

  • Operate, manage, and support IT infrastructure and services to meet prescribed client service levels.

  • Provide AWS production maintenance support (monitoring, tuning, patching, updates/upgrades).

  • Demonstrate hands-on DevSecOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and deployment for project deliveries.

  • Use AWS CloudFormation to automate infrastructure deployment and reduce production lead time.

  • Build, maintain, and support Amazon Machine Images (AMI) and Auto Scaling Groups (ASG).

  • Improve resource utilization and implement resource tagging to support cost allocation, budgeting, reporting, and governance.

  • Ensure implementations and operations align with client technology standards and policies.

  • Review and improve operational/service support processes using industry best practices.

  • Document new and updated processes, standards, and runbooks.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Experience implementing and supporting cloud infrastructure components in production environments.

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools, including setup, testing, and integration.

  • Hands-on experience with operations/support practices (monitoring, tuning, patching, upgrades) for cloud-based production systems.

  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevSecOps practices.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues individually and as part of a team.

  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation (processes, procedures, operational runbooks).

  • Understanding of cloud service delivery models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and supporting infrastructure at scale.

Preferred Attributes

  • 1–3 years of experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.

  • Experience using AWS CloudFormation to automate infrastructure deployments.

  • Experience developing and maintaining AMIs and Auto Scaling Groups (ASG).

  • Experience with cloud cost optimization and governance, including resource tagging strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to continuously improve service support processes based on industry best practices.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders and team members.

Professional and/or Technical Certifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (preferred)

  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate (preferred)

  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate (nice to have)

  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (preferred)

  • DevOps/DevSecOps-related certifications (nice to have)

ADDITIONS

  • Work with team lead to ensure design and codes conform to architecture and standards

  • Participate in peer reviews to improve project quality.
