NALEJ is hiring a Cloud Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support the reliability, security, and scalability of our AWS-hosted infrastructure. This role blends DevOps, SRE, and cloud engineering to ensure production systems meet mission-critical demands and compliance standards. You’ll work hands-on with Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines, collaborating closely with engineering and security teams.

Location: Remote (occasional in office in D.C.)

Clearance Requirement: Active or Interim DoD Security Clearance

Certification Requirement: IAT Level II (e.g., Security+, SSCP, or CCNA Security)

Travel: Occasional

On-Call: Yes (shared rotation)

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure (EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, ECR) using Terraform.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability using Prometheus and Grafana.
• Enforce DoD compliance policies and infrastructure security controls.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Kubernetes workloads in EKS.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and manage state with GitOps workflows.
• Participate in on-call support and maintain detailed run books.
• Collaborate with development teams to promote DevSecOps practices.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship
• Active or Interim DoD Security Clearance
• IAT Level II Certification (Security+, SSCP, or CCNA Security)
• 3+ years experience with AWS and Terraform
• Kubernetes experience (EKS preferred)
• Strong Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python, Go)
• Networking, VPC, IAM, and security best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Argo, Ansible, Helm, and GitOps
• Familiarity with DoD STIGs or FedRAMP environments
• Knowledge of secure ingress/auth (SAML/OIDC)
• Background with secure or air-gapped AWS deployments
