Cloud Software Engineer Level 3

About the role

• We are seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to support mission-critical operations within a highly collaborative Compute Team environment. The ideal candidate will help design, develop, and optimize a large-scale, cloud-native platform supporting data-intensive analytics and distributed computing.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain cloud-native software solutions using Java within a modern technology ecosystem.
• Design, build, and support scalable distributed systems that process large volumes of mission data.
• Work with technologies including Kubernetes, Hadoop, Accumulo, Docker, and open-source platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and support system performance, integration, and sustainment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while independently driving technical solutions.
• Apply Agile development practices and adapt to evolving mission requirements.
• Support continuous learning and adoption of emerging technologies.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• • A Master’s degree in a technical field may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• 8+ years of software development/engineering experience supporting requirements analysis, development, integration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Strong Java development experience.
• Experience with database technologies such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Linux development environments.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and Ansible.
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Hive, or Pig.
• One or more of the following certifications required:
• • AWS Certified Developer – Associate
  • AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
  • Elastic Certified Engineer

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with microservices architectures and container orchestration platforms.
• Experience supporting cloud-native architectures and large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with Hadoop, Accumulo, Kubernetes, and open-source technologies.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a mission-focused environment.
