Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Cloud Systems Engineer with excellent technical skills to work full-time in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters. The Cloud Systems Engineer serves as the hands-on owner, Subject Matter Expert, and primary point of contact for PPLA's Cloud ecosystem of products. This includes managing the Microsoft 365 stack, Azure, AWS, and Citrix services, and all related products, licenses, and integrations. The role is responsible for ensuring that all Cloud services, both PPLA managed as well as vendor hosted and managed, are right sized to optimize both utilization and costs, with a focus on efficient license management. This role will help lead all Cloud and Cloud migration related projects from an infrastructure perspective, managing cloud consumption to control costs, and ensuring seamless integration and functionality of Cloud services across the organization.

This role collaborates closely with internal teams and third-party vendors to implement, maintain, and scale Cloud solutions that align with the business's evolving needs. Additionally, the role will provide continuous training to the IT team on Cloud tools, act as an in-house consultant for Cloud opportunities and license management and maintain technical leadership over the entire Cloud ecosystem within PPLA. They also have hands-on involvement with escalated help desk issues and ensure the successful execution of all Cloud related projects and ongoing maintenance, serving as a key part of the high-performance Agile IT department.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technology related field, or relevant certification and equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 12 years of IT engineering experience with a minimum of 8 years of systems and network experience required.
  • Minimum 8 years’ direct hands-on experience required with Cloud solutions in Enterprise environments required
  • Certifications relevant to Microsoft 365 and cloud services management such as Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert or similar credentials that validate deep expertise in Cloud technologies and services highly preferred
  • Certifications in cybersecurity, such as CISSP or CISM, to underline a strong emphasis on security, particularly valuable in a healthcare setting highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of ITIL framework, ideally backed by certification, to ensure best practices in IT service management and continuous improvement processes are understood and applied required.
  • Experience with agile and scrum methodologies, certified Scrum Master or similar qualifications could be beneficial, underscoring the ability to manage projects effectively and adapt to agile working environments highly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in deploying and managing Microsoft 365 services including OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, InTune, and EntraID, preferrably in a healthcare environment required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in implementing Microsoft Azure and AWS solutions with a focus on integration, efficiency, and functionality across a diverse technology ecosystem required.
  • Familiarity with implementing security protocols that align with the Zero Trust framework and data protection measures, critical for maintaining the security and integrity of sensitive health data highly preferred.
  • Experience conducting security assessments and audits, highlighting the capability to identify vulnerabilities and implement risk mitigation strategies effectively highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience Integration of Cloud products with other essential platforms and technologies, such as EHR systems, and SSO authentication applications, demonstrating the ability to work in a technologically diverse environment.
  • Reliable means of transportation for onsite and off-site work within LA County.

About the position:

  • Design, build, deploy, and manage the deployment of Microsoft Azure products and solutions including hosted resources, data storage, and virtual networks.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership with the migration of on-prem systems and services, such as file servers, application servers, and domain management servers and services to Cloud systems, focused on efficient Cloud services and license utilization and strengthening our business continuity and resiliency.
  • Build, deploy, manage, and act as subject matter expert for Microsoft 365 services including OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, InTune, and EntraID within a clinical healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership on the migration of data from on-prem data repositories (file servers) to OneDrive and SharePoint, focusing on security and DLP, along with facilitating the associated workforce’s workflow change management
  • Ensure seamless integration of Microsoft products with other platforms and technologies, including EHR systems (preferably NextGen), Okta, Great Plains, Acumatica, and ITSM systems such as SolarWinds.
  • In partnership with IT leadership lead on-prem and Cloud system consolidation and simplification initiatives to streamline, secure, strengthen, and future-proof the PPLA network and systems infrastructure.
  • Support the enforcement of policies related to identity management, ensuring compliance with our regulations and standards.
  • Create and support the enforcement of data governance policies to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Oversee data management processes, ensuring data is accessible, reliable, and secure to meet the needs of a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Implement data classification and protection measures against all data storage in Cloud solutions in line with the Zero Trust framework and the principle of least privilege.
  • In close collaboration with IT leadership and other IT teams and partners, develop and continuously improve security practices, applying the Zero Trust framework to protect organizational assets.
  • Implement security best practices and compliance measures, ensuring all systems are planned, designed, and implemented to adhere to healthcare-specific security standards, organizational policies and internal standardized procedures.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT initiatives and projects, promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Assist and support network infrastructure management to maintain and enhance security.
  • Apply knowledge of the ITIL framework for effective IT service management and continuous improvement.
  • Utilize agile and scrum methodologies to manage projects and deliver solutions efficiently, ensuring timely completion and high-quality outcomes.
  • Effectively collaborate with MSPs to ensure the delivery of high-quality IT services and support.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication between internal IT teams and MSPs.
  • Participate in the on call rotating schedule for IT department.
