About You
You are an engineer, first and foremost. You are intimately familiar with designing and building cloud-native infrastructure following industry best-practices, especially when it comes to security. You are keen on automation and dislike repetitive tasks. You are not satisfied and will continually iterate on something until you feel it is done the right way. You are someone that has an ownership mentality and tries to always leave something in a better state than the way they found it. You have an insatiable curiosity and always ask: Why? You thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. You are a strong communicator, explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.
You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
About the Role
Our mission is to provide innovative access to financial products that help RIAs secure their clients’ financial futures and the Flourish Engineers play a key role in doing just that. You will be at the forefront of high-impact, mission-critical projects that will enable us to sail into the next chapters of our cloud-native journey. Working with other engineers, you will bring ideas from the whiteboard to reality, providing input to key architectural decisions. You will be responsible for designing and building infrastructure as code following industry best-practices, especially when it comes to security. You will engineer self-service and automated solutions to enable application development teams to constantly move faster while ensuring compliance with security standards and requirements. You have working knowledge of distributed systems and cloud-native technologies, and are excited to work throughout the tech-stack to deliver a delightful experience for customers and coworkers.
Principal Responsibilities
- Being part of a passionate and creative team of engineers in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment at the forefront of high-impact, mission-critical projects that will enable us to sail into the next chapters of our cloud-native journey
- Designing, developing, integrating, testing, and monitoring all AWS infrastructure following industry best practices and standards in a secure and highly regulated environment
- Utilize AI-based tools for Infrastructure as Code Development
- Engineer self-service and automated solutions to enable application development teams to constantly move faster while ensuring compliance with security standards and requirements
- Build and pilot a next generation application platform centered around Kubernetes and its ecosystem of software
- Acting as a trusted partner for application development teams, advising and supporting their use cloud technologies
- Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Apply secure by design and secure by default patterns to AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure and platforms
- Champion cloud-native best practices and partner with application development teams on their implementation

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent working experience
- 3+ years of professional experience
- Strong programming and scripting skills with one or more languages (such as Python, Go, and Bash)
- Experience utilizing and deploying applications to a container orchestration platform like Kubernetes in a production environment
- Experience working with Linux operating systems and containers
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Engineering
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fast moving team
- Ready to learn, but just as ready to teach
- Excited to build and launch businesses
- Professional experience designing and managing infrastructure in AWS with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools in a highly regulated environment
- Experience implementing or integrating with and utilizing application metric, logging, and tracing aggregation tools such as, but not limited to, New Relic, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Loki, and Grafana for troubleshooting, monitoring, and alerting
- Experience using AI agents, such as GitHub Copilot, for development
- Practical working experience with event driven architectures and message buses like Kafka
- Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and automated workflows
- Ability to design and develop event driven automations and/or workflows using AWS Lambda and/or Step Functions is highly desired
- Understanding of the SRE principles and/or a background in an SRE, operations, or system administrator role is a huge plus
At Flourish, we focus on ensuring fair, equitable pay by providing competitive salaries, along with bonus and incentive opportunities and benefits for all employees.
Base Salary Range: $152,100 - $199,600 plus bonus
