CLX Car Advocate, Total Loss

What you're applying for

We're looking for a CLX Car Advocate to help our customers navigate one of the most stressful moments they'll face — losing a vehicle to a total loss. You'll be part of our Claims team, owning the full arc of each case from investigation to settlement, and making sure every customer feels guided, heard, and fairly treated along the way.

This role exists because total loss claims are hard, and how we handle them says a lot about who we are. You'll bring sharp technical knowledge and genuine empathy to every interaction — turning a complicated process into something customers can actually understand.

We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.

Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.

In this role you'll

  • Investigate and manage total loss auto claims from start to finish, following state and federal regulations to reach fair, timely settlements

  • Evaluate vehicle valuations and estimate documents to accurately determine total loss status and settlement amounts

  • Guide customers through every step of the process — settlements, lienholder coordination, salvage, title requirements, and next steps — with clear, compassionate communication

  • Negotiate with customers and third parties to reach prompt, equitable outcomes while staying fully compliant with regulatory requirements

  • Coordinate with vendors, adjusters, and other internal teams to resolve complex claims and keep the customer experience seamless

  • Document all claim activity with precision and thoroughness, keeping compliance and transparency front and center

  • Partner with Title Express and Copart to manage title paperwork and salvage sales

  • Contribute to team performance goals and flag opportunities to improve processes and customer outcomes

What you'll need

  • Prior auto claims handling experience — total loss focus

  • Solid understanding of claims regulations, valuation methods, and settlement best practices for total loss cases

  • Strong research, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication — able to walk customers through a complex process without reaching for the jargon

  • Sharp organization and documentation habits

  • Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment

  • Hands-on experience with claims management tools like Blender, Copart, and Mitchell, plus cloud-based tools like Google Workspace, Workday, and Slack

  • An active adjuster's license in good standing — if you don't have one yet, we'll support you in getting it within your first 3 months

  • College degree

  • Ability to work in a remote environment

*Please note that we are unable to sponsor applicants for work visas.

Unfortunately, we cannot consider applicants from these states: Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana, Hawaii, New Mexico and Puerto Rico.
