CMA (Certified Medication Aide)-Evenings- Full & Part Time (Check Job Description!!)

Essential Functions (with or without reasonable accommodations):
The following job functions have been determined as essential to the position of CMA at Pleasant View Home. Provide assistance to residents based on evidence-based best practice per each resident’s comprehensive care plan that is not considered direct hands on medical care, such as:
- Report changes in the resident’s condition to the Charge Nurse.
- Report accidents and incidents when they occur.
- Assist with admitting, transferring and discharging residents.
- Assist residents with personal nursing care functions.
- Record, document and report intake and output on residents.
- Answer resident call lights promptly.
- Measure and record vital signs, such as temperatures, pulse, respirations, weight, height, anatomical dimension/circumference, etc.
- Observe, monitor, and report symptoms of potential skin breakdown and/or decubitus ulcers and intervene with appropriate skin care as instructed.
- Provide treatment or care of catheter, ostomy, and other elimination devices as procedurally appropriate.
- Assist with the application of slings, elastic bandages, binders, etc.
- Attend and participate in orientation programs, ongoing training and educational classes.
- Follow established universal precautions and isolation procedures.
- Administers and documents regularly prescribed medications after personally preparing those medications.
- Observes and reports side effect of medication to the Charge Nurse and/or Unit Nurse Supervisor.
- If a PRN medication has been ordered, it may be administered after authorization by a licensed nurse.
Marginally Essential Functions
- Document observed data on flow sheets, notes and charts in an informative and descriptive manner.
- Introduce newly admitted or newly transferred residents to other residents and to co-workers as appropriate.
- Assist residents in preparing for activity and social programs.
- Assist with caring for resident’s eyeglasses, hearing aids, prostheses, etc.
- Assist and direct visitors as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
