POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision and guidance of a licensed provider and/or licensed nurse (MD, NP, PA, RN, LPN/LVN), the Mobile Unit Medical Assistant (MA) supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in community-based settings using a mobile clinic. The MA performs clinical and operational duties within the MA scope of practice, including patient intake, vaccinations, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, documentation in the EMR, and assisting with procedures. The MA helps set up, operate, and break down the mobile unit; manages supplies and equipment; maintains cold-chain integrity for vaccines; and ensures HIPAA-compliant care in non-traditional environments.

PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES
-
Serve as an advocate and health educator to patients, families, and the community.
-
Assist with daily mobile clinic setup, operation, and breakdown
-
Prepare patients for and assist with examinations, and document/maintain accurate records in the Electronic Medical Record
-
Obtain and document vital signs and patient histories per procedures.
-
Administer vaccines and assist with procedures such as pap smears, breast exams and complete plans of care and referrals after visit if necessary.

Perform phlebotomy and specimen handling.
-
Assist with medication refills, medical record request and medication authorizations.

Reviews each patient chart before appointments compiling their reason for the office visit, any pertinent records to the visit and collectively flag the chart.

Schedules return appointments for the patients and ensure understanding of these dates and times.

Maintain equipment (emergent and non emergent), supplies, and cold-chain monitoring.

Responsible for maintaining required education.

Serve as relief coverage for all qualified positions, this additional schedule will be decided by supervisor.

Must be able to commute to other Genesis Healthcare, Inc. locations and community sites as required.

Education
-
Current, unrestricted MA certification/registration in South Carolina
-
BLS certification
Professional
-
1 year experience as MA, preferred
-
Excellent communication and customer service working with the public in a medical care setting.

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Physical/Environmental
-
Ability to interact with a computer screen for up to six hours at a time (visual acuity required).

Must have manual dexterity for use of keyboard.

Ability to stand for extended periods of time in a mobile unit.

Ability to bend, reach, and climb stairs in a mobile unit.

Ability to communicate via phone, email and in person to resolve patient issues.

Capacity to function in a sometimes stressful, multi-tasking environment.
