What You Will Be Doing

The CMM Operator is responsible for developing and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection programs, performing dimensional inspections on precision-machined components, and ensuring manufactured hardware meets engineering and quality requirements. You will support production and development efforts by creating robust inspection methods, operating metrology equipment, and collaborating closely with machinists, engineers, and build reliability personnel. This is an onsite role that reports directly to our Inspection Supervisor at our Everett, WA office.

You Will

  • Develop, validate, and maintain CMM inspection programs for new and existing parts using models, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements

  • Work closely with NC programmers and Machinists to develop and support in-process inspection plans

  • Operate CMM equipment to perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts and assemblies

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate inspection methodologies and data validation

  • Perform manual dimensional inspections using precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, indicators, and optical comparators

  • Generate and review inspection reports, documenting dimensional results and communicating findings to manufacturing and engineering teams

  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to resolve dimensional nonconformances and improve manufacturing processes

  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to dimensional quality issues

  • Maintain calibration and proper handling of metrology equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and repeatability

  • Assist in developing inspection plans, quality documentation, and standardized measurement procedures

Required Skills

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent years of experience

  • 4+ years of experience programming and operating CMM equipment in a manufacturing or machining environment

  • Experience with CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent)

  • Strong understanding of GD&T and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications

  • Proficiency with manual inspection tools and dimensional metrology techniques

  • Experience generating inspection reports and communicating results to manufacturing and engineering stakeholders

  • Ability to collaborate across manufacturing, engineering, and build reliability teams

  • Frequent standing, walking and movement in a machine shop environment

  • Regular handling of raw materials, parts, and tooling, including lifting up to 30lbs
