SUMMARY

The CMM Supervisor is responsible for leading CMM operators and CMM programmers to ensure the quality, accuracy, and integrity of dimensional inspection data used for configuration verification of manufactured product. This role supports production operations by overseeing CMM programming, CMM operation, inspection reporting, equipment readiness, and issue resolution to ensure products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. The CMM Supervisor also supports continuous improvement, root cause corrective action activities, audits, and cross-functional communication with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, customers, and external auditors as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead CMM operators and CMM programmers in daily inspection, programming, and production support activities.
  • Report daily CMM activity during GEMBA walks, including completed work, current priorities, upcoming runs, and programming needs.
  • Review manufacturing planning, engineering drawings, specifications, and digital models to determine dimensional and tolerance requirements for parts and tooling.
  • Oversee installation, execution, validation, and maintenance of CMM programs used to support production operations.
  • Support CMM programming in Catia V5 and other applicable CMM or CAD software environments.
  • Ensure accurate operation of stationary CMM equipment for acceptance of machined parts, including 4-axis and 5-axis product where applicable.
  • Interpret, summarize, and communicate inspection data clearly to Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, customers, and auditors as required.
  • Document inspection results, including AS9102 First Article Inspection reports and related quality records.
  • Lead or support RCCA activities to identify causes of inspection delays, nonconformances, or production rate issues and implement improvement actions.
  • Escalate equipment, software, material, or process concerns promptly and help determine resolution within production time constraints.
  • Maintain detailed records of CMM programs, inspection results, equipment status, and required documentation.
  • Assist product engineers and manufacturing teams in the analysis of dimensional inspection data.
  • Perform or support in-process, first article, final, and mechanical inspections using standard inspection equipment when needed.
  • Support periodic audits, including internal, customer, ISO, AS9100, and other quality audits.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
