CMV Driver

Employees in this position—whether laborers, crew members, foremen, or warehouse associates—are required to operate company vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs or greater, classifying them as Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) drivers under federal and state regulations. This role requires adherence to all Department of Transportation (DOT) safety, medical, and operational requirements. In addition to driving responsibilities, team members are expected to perform standard duties within foundation repair operations, warehouse functions, material handling, and jobsite labor.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Driving & DOT Compliance

  • Safely operate company vehicles over 10,001 lbs GVWR to transport tools, equipment, materials, and personnel to and from job sites, warehouses, and storage locations.
  • Maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate at all times to demonstrate physical qualification to operate CMVs.
  • Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and immediately report any defects, hazards, or maintenance needs.
  • Comply with all applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and company driving policies, including hours-of-service, load securement, and safety protocols.
  • Follow all traffic laws, defensive driving practices, and company safety expectations.

Field & Labor Support (For Crew Members / Laborers / Foremen)

  • Assist with the setup, preparation, and execution of foundation repair projects, including excavation, pier installation, concrete work, structural adjustments, and equipment operation.
  • Load and unload tools, machinery, and materials from company vehicles.
  • Support crew operations by following instructions, maintaining safe workspaces, and ensuring efficient jobsite workflow.
  • Operate small machinery, hand tools, and jobsite equipment as needed.

Foreman-Specific Duties (If Applicable)

  • Provide leadership and direction for assigned crew members.
  • Ensure all team members follow safety protocols, including CMV compliance expectations.
  • Oversee jobsite productivity, quality, and customer interaction.

Warehouse Support (If Applicable)

  • Move materials, equipment, and supplies using forklifts, pallet jacks, or company trucks as required.
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing inventory.
  • Prepare materials for delivery and ensure secure loading according to DOT standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age (or company/state minimum for CMV operation).
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record meeting company standards.
  • Must obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate prior to operating any CMV.
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Prior experience in construction, foundation repair, warehouse operations, or CMV driving preferred but not required.
  • Ability to complete required safety training, vehicle training, and ongoing compliance documentation.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong awareness of safety practices and DOT compliance requirements.
  • Ability to communicate and follow instructions clearly.
  • Reliable, punctual, and capable of working in a team environment.
  • Basic mechanical understanding of vehicles and equipment is a plus.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability in fast-paced environments.

Work Environment

  • Work performed in field construction sites, residential or commercial properties, warehouse settings, and while operating company vehicles.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, uneven terrain, noise, dust, and physical labor.
