CNC MACHINIST - 1ST SHIFT

East Chicago, IN (Northwest Indiana / Chicago metro) | Full-time, direct hire

Schedule: 1st Shift, 6:30am-3:00pm Monday-Friday, overtime as required including occasional weekends

Pay: $24.85/hour

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A global material handling equipment manufacturer is adding a CNC Machinist to its heavy-duty equipment plant in East Chicago, IN. Low-volume, high-mix work in a hands-on, team-oriented shop.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Set up and run CNC machines for turning, drilling, grinding and milling

- Select, position and secure clamps/jaws, tooling, cutters and fixtures

- Produce quality parts on HAAS machines in a low-volume, high-setup environment

- Run multiple machines at the same time based on production needs

- Translate engineering drawings into production dimensions

- Inspect and measure work with tape measures, calipers, gauges and other instruments

- Machine non-metallic materials when needed

- Work overtime as required, including occasional weekend shifts

WHAT YOU NEED

- CNC setup or operation experience on lathes or mills

- Able to read and understand blueprints

- Change, touch off and indicate tools on CNC machines

- Lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk about 90% of the day in a shop environment

- Strong communication skills

- Able to pass background check and drug screen

NICE TO HAVE

- HAAS experience in a high-mix, low-volume shop

- Running multiple machines at once

- Strong attention to detail in inspection and measurement

- Experience machining both metal and non-metallic materials

- Able to edit G-code, adjust work offsets and tool offsets
