CNC Machinist – Precision Manufacturing

Core Responsibilities

• Work Order Execution: Utilize the daily dispatch system to prioritize and manage assigned jobs.
• Prints & Models: Locate, read, and verify technical prints, engineering drawings, and 3D CAD models.
• CAD/CAM Programming: Generate new programs or modify existing files using Mastercam.
• Material Preparation: Select, inspect, and cut raw stock to job specifications.
• Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and run Haas equipment, including:
  • Mills: Haas UMC-750, VF-5, and DM-2
  • Lathes: Haas ST-25Y and ST-35Y
• Program Proofing & Machining: Dry-run and proof programs safely before executing full production runs.
• Finishing & Quality Inspection: Deburr parts and perform thorough quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators, depth gages).
• Workflow Continuity: Maintain active machine runtime and immediately return to dispatch upon job completion.

Additional Duties

• Machine Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance.
• Documentation: Maintain precise production logs, setup sheets, and job tracking records.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose process issues, adjust offsets/tooling, and suggest process improvements.
• Safety & Shop Standards: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in compliance with company policies.

Key Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on CNC machining experience, including 1+ years dedicated to CNC mill setup and operation.
• Software: Proven proficiency with Mastercam CAD/CAM software.
• Equipment Knowledge: Direct setup/operating experience with Haas CNC equipment (5-axis mill and Y-axis lathe experience highly preferred).
• Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and GD&T principles.
• Inspection Tools: Advanced proficiency with calipers, micrometers, bore gages, and indicators.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
• Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; ability to pass a background check.
