CNC & Manual Machinist

Job Description

Crane Technologies has designed and manufactured custom overhead bridge cranes and material- handling equipment since 1946, for industrial and government customers nationwide. We are a privately owned manufacturer that designs for performance, not down to a price point, so the work is varied and the standards are high.

We are hiring an experienced CNC and Manual Machinist for our Rochester Hills, MI shop. This is not repetitive production work. You will run CNC and manual lathes and mills on one-off parts, repairs and short runs, and decide how each job gets machined.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and CNC mills
• Set up and operate manual lathes and manual mills
• Machine custom steel components from engineering drawings
• Choose tooling, speeds, feeds and the machining process for each job
• Make offsets and CNC program adjustments as needed
• Inspect finished parts with precision measuring equipment
• Carry out routine machine maintenance and keep an organized work area

Requirements

• Experience operating CNC lathes and CNC mills
• Experience operating manual lathes and manual mills
• Strong machine setup and troubleshooting skills
• Able to read blueprints and hold required tolerances
• Able to plan custom setups and decide the machining approach
• Dependable, safety-conscious and committed to quality work
• CNC programming or large steel component experience is a plus
