Cobol Developer

Overview:

One of the biggest banks in the European Union is seeking a Cobol Developer to help the team that is developing a system that is a vital legacy platform that processes several million of daily transactions, enabling settlement and delivery of client instructions on the UK market and maintaining accurate client‑account positions.

What will you do?

• Translate business needs into clear technical specs and develop/maintain legacy COBOL code.
• Use AI‑assisted tools to understand, refactor, and safely modify impacted components.
• Build and keep unit/integration test suites; support acceptance‑test planning and execution.
• Support the team in adopting modern tooling – introduce AI‑driven data validation, CI/CD pipelines, and advanced monitoring to enhance system security and performance.
• Document changes, manage version control, and ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.

What are we looking for?

• 4+ years of relevant professional experience
• Expertise in Microfocus COBOL
• Familiarity with PowerHouse (4GL) and/or Eloquence (Marxmeier) technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Ansible, ToolChain) and Git version‑control.
• Background in the financial sector.
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Fluent in English.
