About You
You're a sharp, detail-oriented professional who takes pride in protecting the health and safety of the community you serve. You're comfortable working independently in the field — walking a site, documenting a violation, or explaining code requirements to a frustrated property owner with patience and clarity. You have a knack for digging into ownership records, prior complaints, and municipal code to build a solid case, and you communicate what you find clearly, whether in a written report or on the witness stand. As a mentor to newer inspectors, you lead by example and bring consistency and calm authority to every caseload you touch.
At Team Gilbert, we hire innovative, forward-thinking problem-solvers who love what they do! In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, candidates must possess the following requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 3-4 years of experience in code enforcement or law enforcement, with an emphasis on public contact
- Valid Arizona driver's license
- ICC/AACE Zoning Inspector Certification
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities to perform the work
This position requires a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
This position has been designated as a Medium work position that spends a majority of their workday in a field/outdoor environment.
The physical demands and working conditions information above is meant to provide a general idea of the conditions for this role. Gilbert is committed to being an inclusive employer of candidates with a wide range of abilities, and looks for opportunities to accommodate different abilities within reason.
