Coding Specialist

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for coding interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology services in both Global and Professional settings.

The Coding Specialist abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, MIPS codes and modifiers to patient records according to established procedures. The specialist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field; relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of tasks; and works under general supervision. This position typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Primary Job Duties

This is a sedentary role, sitting and/or standing and working at a computer for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day as a full-time employee.

• Accurately assign codes to medical procedures
• Correctly assign and sequence codes per coding guidelines and insurance regulations
• Follow medical coding guidelines and policies.
• Identify and correct coding errors when found. Notifies coding feedback to Coding Manager.
