Summary

Coordinates library mail, courier operations, and print collection maintenance, supervises student workers, and ensures compliance with safety and vehicle requirements.

JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinates and oversees library mail and courier operations in partnership, ensuring timely, secure delivery, efficient routing, and clear communication with stakeholders. Helps maintain print collections by organizing, shelving, and maintaining accessibility, while supporting resource sharing and material transfers through interlibrary systems and shipping services. Supervises student employees, maintains operational compliance and vehicle requirements, resolves issues, and contributes to a safe, well-organized, and efficient library environment. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

20% - Resource Sharing Support: Assists Resource Sharing team as needed with processing requests for materials for circulation to Clemson patrons borrowed via PASCAL Delivers consortial sharing program, Peer to Peer networks, or via interlibrary loan using current library ILS and resource sharing software. Assists with processing outgoing materials through USPS or FedEx.

15% - Student Management: Hires, trains, and supervises student employees to perform courier services and collection maintenance services. Monitors work to ensure accuracy and timely completion of all collection-related duties.

10% - Compliance, Safety, and Training: Complies with University, State, and Federal requirements. Complies with Student Supervisor requirements. Stays up to date with University Vehicle requirements, including document and billing records retention. With supervisor, maintains the library vehicle, coordinating routine service and repairs. Maintains a safe and secure work environment. Participates in staff development programs and library service initiatives, as required. This position requires: Valid driver's license and background checks for University vehicle operation.

35% - Mail and Courier Operations: Coordinates the receiving, sorting, and delivery of mail in collaboration with Clemson University Central Receiving, ensuring timely distribution to all library locations. Maintains organization and security of all materials and advises library personnel on appropriate mailing methods. Resolves operational issues, reporting concerns to the supervisor as needed. Oversees courier operations by ensuring delivery routes run efficiently and on schedule and serving as backup driver when necessary. Communicates route updates, delays, and changes to stakeholders, and maintains the van schedules in LibCal. Ensures all courier locations are stocked with necessary supplies and completes required statistics and reports in a timely manner.

20% - Collection Maintenance: Manages the organization, maintenance, and accessibility of the library's print collections at Cooper. Oversees shelving, shifting, and space planning to ensure materials are arranged according to established classification systems and are easy for users to locate. Assists with relocation projects and preparing items for transfer to other locations.

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant library experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for work experience.

Valid Driver's License

Preferred Requirements:

Experience working with Alma/Primo ILS system.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:

Expected Salary Range

$30,700.00 - $39,900.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
