Estimates collision repair costs, schedules jobs, and manages parts ordering and billing for an auto body shop using dealership software and industry tools.
Job Responsibilities:
- Break down estimates into labor and parts before job is started so body men are aware of time allowances.
- Follow up parts department orders to insure parts availability.
- Revise and approve time allowances of each job.
- Assist with quality check of completed jobs.
- Prepare final billing for completed repair orders.
- Responsible for aiding the Body Shop Manager in the daily activities of the shop. These include: communications with technicians, painters, other departments with-in the dealership, insurance company representatives, parts wholesalers, and especially customers.
- Investigate new equipment and tools in the field and recommend purchases.
- Forecast goals and objectives for the department.
- Check the general Body Shop appearance (outside and inside).
- Estimate writing, repair selling, job scheduling, completion date notification, repair order billing, filing, problem solving, phone answering, supplement authorization and follow-up, weekly payroll, Quality Control maintenance and continual education in the Body Shop Industry.
- Examine Body Shop ROs and other paperwork in Body Shop Office.
- Make occasional inspections of completed ready-for-delivery body work. (Is the quality and general appearance of car acceptable?).
