Purpose of the job
The Commercial Analyst is responsible for providing high-quality commercial analysis, financial modelling, market intelligence and commercial performance reporting to support Leonard Cheshire’s income generation, fee recovery and growth activity. The role underpins contract management, annual inflationary uplift negotiations, fee recovery programmes, commercial relationship management and business development activity through accurate data analysis, evidence gathering and reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain commercial dashboards, reports and performance trackers for income, pricing, uplift, fee recovery and commissioner insight.
- Analyse funding, pricing, occupancy, contract and commissioning data to identify commercial risks and opportunities for escalation or action by relevant leads.
- Produce regular commercial performance reports for senior management, focused on income, pricing, uplift and fee recovery insight.
- Provide analytical support for the annual inflationary uplift programme, including funder-level and service-level modelling, tracking and reporting against budgeted uplift targets.
- Analyse service user funding arrangements, contractual pricing and fee variations to identify potential fee recovery opportunities, inconsistencies or revenue leakage.
- Provide analytical support to Commercial Relationship Managers in preparation for commissioner meetings, negotiations, briefing papers and income impact assessments.
- Work closely with the Business Development Director to provide market intelligence, growth analysis, business case support, tender pricing analysis and opportunity pipeline reporting.
- Maintain accurate commercial datasets, records and reporting systems, identifying improvements that reduce manual effort and improve commercial insight.
Person specification
- Experience in a commercial analyst, business analyst, financial analyst or similar role.
- Experience producing reports and senior management information that support decision-making by accountable leads.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including experience manipulating large datasets and translating data into actionable insight.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience working across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong experience of commercial data analysis, financial modelling and evidence production.
