About the Role

As the Commercial and Contracts Manager, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of agreements with vendors, customers, and partners. You will balance business objectives with risk and compliance, lead negotiations, and structure terms that protect value, and ensure risk is appropriately passed through to customers or partners, while enabling growth. Collaborating with Sales, Legal, Procurement, and Finance, you will ensure consistent, clear contracts and effective governance. This hands-on, strategic role suits a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to shape commercial outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.
  • Strong business acumen
  • 10+ years of Account Management experience, with at least 3 years’ experience in commercial management and/or legal background in either NZ or Australia, preference to be familiar with both
  • Demonstrated experience in managing people and teams
  • Excellent customer relationship building and management skills
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements

What you’ll do

  • Reviewing and approving documents for protection of the company's contractual posture and adherence to company policy
  • Advising management of contractual rights and obligations and provides interpretation of terms and conditions
  • Providing guidance and advice to people within the latitude of established company policies in order to meet schedules and resolve technical problems
  • Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect the company
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of operational management and development across the Customer division
  • Monitoring, measuring and reporting on department operational issues, opportunities, development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timelines
  • Responsible for implementing a principle driven health and safety culture that cares for employees and ensures their safety in line with Datacom policy
