Commercial and Technical Manager East Asia
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Manager to drive the sales of structural steel products while leveraging opportunities in ferrous and non-ferrous scrap markets.
The ideal candidate will combine technical sales expertise - specifically in value engineering, with a strong background in scrap procurement and trading. This role is responsible for maximizing profitability by identifying cost-effective steel solutions for clients and managing the entire life cycle of scrap materials.
1. Structural Steel Sales & Value Engineering (60%)
- Drive Sales Growth: Identify, tender, and secure new structural steel projects (beams, columns, plates) with developers, main contractors, and fabricators.
- Value Engineering (VE) Implementation: Analyze client structural designs to propose alternative steel specifications, optimizing material usage (e.g., higher strength-to-weight ratios) to reduce total project costs.
- Technical Consulting: Collaborate with clients’ engineers to optimize steel fabrication, erection, and construction methods to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Estimation & Bidding: Lead the preparation of accurate, competitive estimates and technical proposals, ensuring compliance with local standards and codes.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders in the construction industry.
2. Scrap (Ferrous/Non-Ferrous) Trading &Management (40%)
- Sourcing & Procurement: Source ferrous (HMS 1/2, Shredded) and non-ferrous(aluminum, copper) scrap from industrial generators, demolition sites, and dealers.
- Trading Strategy: Manage the buying and selling of scrap to maximize spreads. Oversee negotiations on pricing, quality specifications, and delivery terms.
- Logistics & Compliance: Coordinate logistics, transport, and inspection of scrap, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and international standards.
- Market Analysis: Monitor global and local scrap market trends, pricing fluctuations, and demand dynamics to inform trading strategies.
