Pay: $150,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year

Location

Minneapolis, MN — Hybrid schedule with the banking team working in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Note:

Must have a Minnesota bar license and 3+ years of substantive commercial banking and lending transaction experience. Candidates must have direct experience handling banking loan transactions, including drafting and negotiating loan documentation. Bankruptcy, restructuring, workout, and creditor-remedy experience alone will not meet the core requirements for this position.

Job Description

  • Advise banks, financial institutions, developers, borrowers, and other clients on sophisticated commercial lending transactions.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage complex loan documents and financing agreements.
  • Handle commercial banking transactions involving real estate, asset-based lending, construction lending, and land development financing.
  • Review and analyze due diligence materials to identify and address legal and transactional issues.
  • Advise clients on the structure, documentation, negotiation, and execution of complex financing transactions.
  • Work closely with clients, lenders, borrowers, opposing counsel, and other professionals to move transactions efficiently toward closing.
  • Manage multiple transactions and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Apply strong knowledge of banking, finance, real estate, and applicable regulatory requirements to transactional matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and professionals across the firm to deliver comprehensive, business-minded legal solutions.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the commercial banking practice.

Qualifications

  • Minnesota bar license required.
  • 3+ years of directly relevant commercial banking, finance, or lending transaction experience.
  • Substantive experience drafting and negotiating commercial loan documentation.
  • Experience reviewing due diligence for commercial lending transactions.
  • Experience with real estate lending, construction lending, and/or land development financing strongly preferred.
  • Affordable housing tax credit lending experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong legal drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple sophisticated transactions independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Strong academic and professional credentials.
  • Candidates with a portable book of business are welcome, but a book of business is not required.
