Hood Construction is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations for a diverse portfolio of commercial projects throughout South Carolina. From healthcare facilities and educational campuses to hospitality developments, municipal projects, and historic renovations, you'll be responsible for leading project execution from groundbreaking through final completion.

About the Role

As the Superintendent, you will serve as the primary on-site leader and play a critical role in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to the highest construction standards.

You'll collaborate closely with Project Managers, Owners, Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, and internal project teams to deliver successful outcomes while maintaining Hood Construction's reputation for excellence.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all field operations from preconstruction planning through project closeout and warranty turnover.
• Develop and manage project schedules, manpower plans, and daily construction activities.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, inspectors, and trade partners to ensure efficient project execution.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements to identify potential conflicts and maintain project quality.
• Conduct daily jobsite walks, quality inspections, and safety audits.
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and project planning sessions.
• Monitor project progress and proactively identify solutions to scheduling, quality, and operational challenges.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, building codes, project specifications, and company standards.
• Document project activities, maintain daily reports, and track progress utilizing Procore and other construction management platforms.
• Partner with Project Managers to support budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and project forecasting efforts.
• Manage punch list completion, final inspections, and project turnover activities.
• Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing commercial construction projects as a Superintendent or Lead Superintendent.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering ground-up and renovation commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, building systems, quality control, and safety management.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents.
• Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and managing complex project schedules.
• Proficiency with Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software.
• Strong leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing healthcare, education, hospitality, municipal, multi-use, or historic renovation projects.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Experience supervising projects from site mobilization through final owner turnover.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Science, or a related field.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to traverse active construction sites for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work areas.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and around active construction operations.
