Commercial Executive – Marine MEP

Summary

Commercial Executive reviews marine MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) tender documents, prepares cost estimates, and selects suppliers for ship interior projects.

Core Accountabilities /Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents, specifications, drawings and equipment schedules.
  • Identify the complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing scope for marine interior projects.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities and detailed cost estimates.
  • Estimate materials, equipment, labour, installation, testing and commissioning costs.
  • Review MEP requirements for cabins, toilets, public areas, galleys, offices and crew accommodation.
  • Coordinate MEP requirements with ceilings, partitions, furniture, interior finishes and equipment.
  • Identify scope gaps, technical conflicts, missing information and commercial risks.
  • Prepare and issue quotation requests to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate quotations based on technical compliance, pricing, delivery and commercial conditions.
  • Prepare commercial comparison tables and recommend suitable suppliers or subcontractors.
  • Prepare MEP pricing summaries, assumptions, exclusions and qualifications for tender submission.
  • Support tender clarifications, proposal revisions and commercial negotiations.
  • Provide a complete MEP commercial handover to Procurement, Operations and the project team after award.
  • Assist in monitoring MEP costs against the approved project budget.
  • Prepare cost estimates and supporting documents for variations and additional works.
  • Maintain updated supplier pricing, cost records and historical project data.
  • Compare estimated and actual project costs to improve future quotations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company pricing and commercial information.

Requirements &Qualifications

Education &Certification

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related field.

Experience

  • Three to five years of experience in MEP estimation, tendering, quantity surveying or commercial support.
  • Marine, offshore, shipbuilding, ship repair or marine interior fit-out experience is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Good understanding of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to interpret MEP drawings, schematics, specifications and equipment schedules.
  • Knowledge of marine interior MEP materials, equipment and installation methods.
  • Proficiency in quantity take-off, cost estimation and pricing analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, ERP or estimating software is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines.
