Commercial Manager
The Digital Intelligence business is pleased to announce this additional Exec headcount due to increasing demand.
The Digital Intelligence Commercial Team is positioned to provide trusted advice, expertise and resources that enable DI to win and deliver successful contracts and grow a sustainable and valued business for DI and its customers.
As the Commercial Manager, you will join the BD & International Commercial Team, with a view to providing senior level commercial support and guidance to DI on international campaigns and deals. Based in the UK, and reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager for the EMEA region, the role will cover all stages of the bid and contract cycle, from helping to shape commercial deals through to contract negotiation, closure and in-life management.
The role will be focused primarily on international opportunities emanating from the Defence business unit within DI, but there will also be a requirement to support other international opportunities for the NS&G business unit, which will provide further exposure to a diverse range of geographies, cultures and business practices.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your career within BAE Systems due to exposure gained across multiple business areas.
Your main responsibilities as Commercial Manager – BD & International, will involve\:
· Acting as the primary customer interface for proposals and contractual matters, and leading contract negotiations
· Providing guidance on commercial issues and internal governance
· Leading and supporting the preparation of proposals, contracts, SOWs and changes
· Identifying commercial risks and opportunities, and devising appropriate mitigations
· Influencing the price build-up, through the identification of costs, risks and contingency
· Liaising with other functions to support the development of the Commercial solution
· Working with Procurement to leverage the supply base
· Providing contract management support activities throughout the contract lifecycle, including revenue/margin growth, handling disputes and claims, and coaching on contract management issues, tools and techniques
· Developing and applying product/solution knowledge, customer knowledge and market intelligence
Your skills and qualifications\:
· Experience and knowledge of export and cross-border/international contracting
· Experience of contracting with customers in any of the International Government, NS, Space, Comms, CNI or LEA sectors
· Knowledge of legal issues, various types and forms of contracts and contracting mechanisms, and contract structures
· Knowledge of sub-contract considerations, including management of back-to-back contractual risks
· Astute analytical ability to identify commercial risks and opportunities and to devise a flexible range of mitigations
· Skills and experience in bidding, contract drafting and negotiations, and closing large and complex deals
· Knowledge of different selling models for solutions, services and products
· Knowledge and experience of addressing in-contract management issues
· An understanding of project P&L, profitability requirements, funding and payment models

Location\: The role can be based in any one of the following office locations\: Christchurch, Frimley, London, Gloucester or Yeovil.
