WHO WE ARE
Flatirons Bank is a locally managed, independent bank founded in 2001 and based in Boulder, Colorado. We provide a full suite of customized banking services to businesses, individuals, and nonprofit organizations, with a focus on delivering highly personal, relationship-driven service.
In 2023, Flatirons Bank launched Justice Escrow, a specialized division built to transform the administration of Qualified Settlement Funds (QSFs) for attorneys and law firms. The division has grown rapidly, earning national recognition among top trial lawyers and legal service providers. Building on that success, the Bank has launched Justice Banking - a comprehensive legal banking suite that includes operating accounts, IOLTA accounts, treasury management and reserve solutions, and specialized lending products tailored to the needs of law firms. Justice Banking builds upon the Bank’s reputation in the legal space with its QSF offering and provides banking solutions in addition settlement-related administration.
Our goal is to become a trusted primary banking partner to the plaintiff-law-firm market by combining specialized industry knowledge, responsive relationship management, tailored banking solutions, and the broader capabilities of Flatirons Bank.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Relationship Manager – Legal Banking Division (Justice Banking) (“SRM”) is a producer-first, market-facing role responsible for sourcing, developing, and expanding banking relationships with plaintiff law firms. Approximately 75%–80% of the role centers on new business development, market penetration and relationship expansion. This is not a traditional portfolio-management or fulfillment role.
Flatirons Bank internal bank teams – including Treasury Management, Credit, Deposit Operations, Loan Administration, and Justice Escrow – support routine servicing, implementation underwriting and administration. This structure allows the SRM to remain focused on origination, relationship strategy, and conversion. The specific responsibilities are further outlined below:
Business Development & New Client Acquisition
- Identify, prospect, and acquire new plaintiff-law-firm banking relationships within assigned priority markets.
- Build and manage a targeted pipeline of high-value law firms, strategic referral sources, and strategic opportunities through direct outreach, conferences, centers of influence, and existing Justice Escrow relationships.
- Lead discovery to understand firm ownership, economics, operating-account structure, IOLTA/trust-account needs, treasury requirements, capital and credit needs, and settlement-related activity.
- Develop tailored relationship strategies and proposals positioning Flatirons Bank as the firm’s primary banking partner across deposits, treasury, credit, and other relevant Justice Banking services.
- Own the full sales cycle – from prospecting and qualification through proposal, decision, onboarding coordination, and post-conversion follow-through.
- Maintain an active travel and market-development schedule to meet with firms, attend targeted legal-industry events, and advance high-priority opportunities.
Relationship Expansion & Client Ownership
- Serve as the senior relationship owner for assigned Justice Banking clients, leveraging internal teams for servicing and fulfillment.
- Deepen relationships across non-interest-bearing operating accounts, IOLTA/trust balances, money market and reserve accounts, treasury management, commercial lending, and Qualified Settlement Fund opportunities.
- Convert appropriate Justice Escrow / QSF-only clients into broader Justice Banking relationships and expand share of wallet with existing law-firm clients.
- Conduct strategic relationship reviews with law firm owners, managing partners, and other decision makers to understand growth plans, case activity, capital needs, settlement flows, and emerging banking opportunities.
- Advocate for clients internally while coordinating implementation, underwriting, documentation, and day-to-day servicing.
Client Discovery & Internal Coordination
- Clearly document client needs, decision criteria, relationship potential, key stakeholders, next actions, and implementation requirements within the Bank’s CRM.
- Partner early with Treasury Management, Credit, Deposit Operations, Loan Administration, Justice Escrow, Compliance, and other internal teams to develop solutions and execute effectively.
- Make effective handoffs to product and implementation specialists while maintaining ownership of relationship strategy and client communication.
- Ensure internal teams receive the context to deliver a coordinated, responsive, high-quality client experience.
- Provide feedback to Justice Banking leadership on client needs, product gaps, operational friction, competitive dynamics, and platform-enhancement opportunities.
Market Development & Industry Expertise
- Build relationships with plaintiff attorneys, law-firm executives, legal-industry organizations, referral sources, and centers of influence within assigned markets.
- Represent Justice Banking at targeted plaintiff-lawyer conferences, industry events, client meetings, and other market-development activities.
- Maintain a strong understanding of plaintiff-law-firm economics, including contingency-fee models, case-investment cycles, settlement cash flows, trust-account requirements, and working-capital needs.
- Stay informed on competitive offerings, litigation finance, IOLTA/ trust-account considerations, QSF services, and broader trends affecting the plaintiff-bar ecosystem.
Performance Expectations
- Success is measured primarily by funded relationship outcomes, durable balance-sheet growth, and overall contribution to Justice Banking’s expansion.
- Expected to generate new law-firm relationships and meaningful deposit growth, with an emphasis on non-interest-bearing operating accounts with active Treasury Management, IOLTA / trust balances, and appropriately priced interest-bearing deposits.
- Identify and develop appropriate commercial lending opportunities and generate qualified referrals to the Bank’s mortgage, 1–4 family, construction, and other lending specialists.
- Additional performance measures include Treasury Management adoption, relationship penetration, qualified pipeline growth, conversion discipline, Justice Escrow / QSF referrals, client retention, and overall relationship profitability.
- Annual production expectations (minimum, target, and stretch) goals, will be set by Management and may adjust based on market assignment, ramp period, strategic priorities, product availability, and Justice Banking platform maturity.
