Commercial Specialist

Who We Are

Energy Ogre helps Texans take the hassle out of managing electricity. We work exclusively on behalf of our members — never electricity providers — so our incentives stay aligned with the people we serve. It's a mission our team takes personally, and it shows in how we work: we own outcomes, we stick with hard problems, we put members first, we look out for each other, and we untangle complexity instead of passing it along.

About the Role

The Commercial Operations Specialist is a key player on our Commercial Operations team, negotiating commercial pricing, resolving member inquiries, and making sure our commercial members always feel like they come first. You'll manage relationships across phone, email, and provider channels, keep account details airtight, and be someone members and teammates alike know they can count on. Reporting to the Commercial Operations Manager, this role is based in our Housto, Texas office and requires regular in-office attendance.

What You'll Do

  • Manage inbound and outbound calls with Commercial Members, resolving inquiries and concerns efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service — taking the time to make sure members actually understand and trust the outcome.
  • Respond to and resolve Commercial Member emails promptly and accurately.
  • Support inside sales efforts by identifying opportunities with prospective commercial members and closing new business, in addition to servicing existing accounts.
  • Draft commercial contracts and handle contract submissions to providers, owning the details rather than passing confusion downstream.
  • Manage email communication with providers, staying persistent when answers are slow or unclear.
  • Set up login credentials, AutoPay, and other account management tasks for Commercial Members.
  • Maintain data integrity by updating account information, including account numbers and terms and conditions.
  • Notify and assist members with accounts at risk of disconnection, working patiently to resolve issues and restore accounts to good standing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, stepping in to help a teammate carry a heavy load without being asked.
  • Follow up on outstanding inquiries via phone and email, owning the follow-through until it's actually resolved.
  • Simplify confusing plans, policies, or workflows for members and teammates instead of letting confusion pass downstream.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Embrace evolving responsibilities as business needs change — leaning in on work that matters, even when it's not technically "yours."

Note: This list reflects the primary duties of the role and is not exhaustive. Duties may be added, removed, or modified at the company's discretion
