Discussion

Are you an experienced commissioning leader with a strong HSE mindset and the ability to bring large-scale industrial plants safely from construction to reliable operation? This is an opportunity to take overall responsibility for commissioning execution, lead multidisciplinary site teams and act as the key customer contact during a decisive phase of international projects.

About Kanadevia Inova

Kanadevia Inova is a global green-tech company dedicated to developing and delivering advanced technologies that transform waste into sustainable energy and valuable resources. Through its Waste to X and Renewable Gas solutions, the company contributes to decarbonisation, security of supply and a more circular use of resources.

With operations in 17 countries, more than 3,500 employees and over 2,000 completed projects, Kanadevia Inova combines international reach with extensive engineering and project execution capabilities. You will join an organisation where safety, technical quality and close cooperation with customers and partners are central to successful project delivery.

The position

As Commissioning Manager, you will report to the Manager of Commissioning and assume overall responsibility for planning, managing and coordinating all commissioning activities on assigned projects. You will ensure that the plant is commissioned safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with contractual requirements and project-specific specifications.

You will lead a commissioning organisation of typically 5–20 employees and coordinate specialists, subcontractors and internal technical functions. At the project site, you will have authority to direct assigned personnel and will serve as the customer's primary contact for commissioning and operational matters. Depending on project requirements, you may also act as Deputy Site Manager or undertake relevant stakeholder responsibilities.

Your main responsibilities

  • Prepare the commissioning strategy, plans, procedures and required project documentation.
  • Manage and coordinate all commissioning activities across disciplines and project interfaces.
  • Take ownership of commissioning HSE, schedule and budget, and enforce agreed safety, time and cost requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the customer contract, technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Maintain and update commissioning schedules, monitor progress and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Identify technical, commercial and operational deviations and risks, and coordinate solutions with the relevant departments.
  • Lead, supervise and develop commissioning personnel, delegate tasks and follow up on performance and quality.
  • Coordinate and negotiate with subcontractors and other site stakeholders.
  • Ensure regulated, reliable and safe plant operation throughout the commissioning phase.
  • Supervise the practical training of the customer's operating personnel.
  • Ensure that all commissioning QA/QC and handover documentation is complete before takeover and Provisional Acceptance.

Your professional background

You have a relevant technical degree, preferably at university of applied sciences level or equivalent, combined with several years of experience from large-scale industrial plant construction. You have worked as a Commissioning Manager, Lead Commissioning Engineer or in a comparable senior commissioning role and are accustomed to managing complex projects with multiple technical disciplines and stakeholders.

We also expect that you have:

  • Strong knowledge of industrial plant commissioning, ideally within energy, Waste to Energy, power generation or process plants.
  • Documented leadership experience with multidisciplinary teams and personnel carrying different responsibilities.
  • A recognised managers' HSE qualification such as SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent.
  • A valid SCC safety certificate, or the ability to obtain the required certification.
  • Good understanding of function plans, P&IDs and technical plant documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of contract management and experience negotiating with subcontractors.
  • Good user knowledge of Microsoft applications; experience with PIRS, SAP and Primavera is an advantage.
  • Business-fluent English and German; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Availability for extensive work at international project sites.

Your personal profile

You are a confident and visible leader who creates direction, promotes teamwork and keeps people focused on common goals. You communicate complex technical matters clearly and can build credibility with customers, subcontractors and colleagues – also when discussions are challenging.

You work systematically, maintain a clear overview and make sound decisions in a demanding project environment. With a strong focus on results, quality and safe execution, you identify risks early, analyse root causes and establish practical solutions. You are resilient, take ownership and contribute actively to improving methods, standards and ways of working.

We offer

Kanadevia Inova offers a key leadership position in an international green-tech organisation, where you will play a direct role in bringing complex and sustainable energy infrastructure into safe and reliable operation. You will gain substantial responsibility, professional influence and close collaboration with highly qualified colleagues across engineering, project management, construction and field services.

The position provides varied international assignments, complex technical challenges and strong opportunities for professional and personal development. Employment terms will reflect the responsibility of the role and your qualifications.
