Hours: 15-20 hours/week, Monday – Friday, may require occasional evenings and weekends

Location: Onsite, primarily in our Dover, New Hampshire office with event-focused visits to our Sanford, Maine office.

Course Credits: To be determined in collaboration with university guidelines

Summary The Communications & Marketing Intern provides administrative and creative support to the Marketing & Communications team, assisting with content creation, community engagement, and fundraising initiatives. This position falls under the direct supervision and direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager, offering hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, and donor engagement while contributing to advancing GBS’s mission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Content Creation & Marketing Support

· Assist in creating and scheduling content for social media platforms

· Support updates to the website and other digital platforms

· Help draft and format internal and external communications, including newsletters and email campaigns

· Assist in maintaining brand consistency across marketing materials

· Support the organization and distribution of promotional materials

2. Community Engagement & Outreach Support

· Assist with preparation for community events, workshops, and outreach activities

· Support donor and sponsor communications through email, mailings, and event follow-up

· Help maintain and update contact lists and outreach records in the database

· Conduct research on potential community partners, donors, and sponsors

3. Fundraising & Events Support

· Assist with planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events (including the annual Gala and appeals)

· Provide administrative support for donation tracking and acknowledgments

· Support online fundraising efforts, auctions, or campaign platforms

· Help gather materials and information for grant applications and reports

4. Administrative & Team Support

· Assist in maintaining marketing and communications calendars

· Support data entry and reporting efforts for marketing and fundraising activities

· Help streamline and organize digital files and communication systems

· Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for campaigns and outreach


Learning Opportunities

· Exposure to nonprofit marketing, fundraising, and donor relations strategies

· Hands-on experience with social media management, email marketing, and content development

· Experience working with donor databases and communication tools

· Opportunity to develop professional communication, project management, and event coordination skills


Qualifications and Requirements

· Current student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation

· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with design or media tools is a plus

· Interest in nonprofit work and alignment with GBS’s mission

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
