What Are We Looking For?
This is a full-time, in-person fellowship role suited for early-career professionals who are interested in public-interest technology, data-for-good, and social impact communications. The fellow will work closely with the Communications & Outreach Manager and programme teams to assist in creating content, managing platforms, supporting events, and strengthening engagement with our community and partners.
We are looking for someone with up to 6 months – 1 year of prior experience (including internships, fellowships, or student-led work) in communications, media, design, journalism, development communications, or related fields.
Note: Candidates currently pursuing their degree are not eligible to apply, as this is a full-time, in-person position.
On completion of the fellowship period, the candidate may be considered for a full-time role based on performance, organisational needs, and mutual interest.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience, or strong demonstrated interest, in communications, media, social impact, public policy, or public-interest work.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, Development Studies, Design, or a related field. Exceptional candidates from other disciplines with demonstrated communications experience are welcome to apply.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ownership and ability to independently manage tasks from planning to execution.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Interest in data, AI, governance, public policy, climate, gender, or social impact.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Sheets), Canva, MailChimp and major social media platforms.
- Willingness to learn content strategy, storytelling, design workflows, and digital campaigns
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced, predominantly in-person environment with multiple stakeholders.
Good to have
Experience managing social media accounts, newsletters, websites, or communication campaigns.
Experience with student publications, research organisations, NGOs, think tanks, or college societies.
Graphic design, video editing, or multimedia storytelling skills.
Exposure to the development sector, governance, public policy, or civic technology.
Key Responsibilities
Content & Platforms
Support in drafting, editing, and publishing content for social media, website, newsletters, and email outreach.
Assist in creating posts, basic creatives, presentations, and documentation material.
Help adapt content for different platforms (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, website, emailers).
Campaigns & Outreach
Assist in executing communication campaigns for projects, fellowships, and convenings.
Support dissemination of reports, announcements, events, and opportunities.
Help monitor engagement, responses, and basic performance metrics.
Design & Media Support
Coordinate with designers and programme teams for social media assets, reports, and event collaterals.
Assist with basic design edits using tools like Canva, Figma, or Adobe (where required).
Support short-form video editing, captioning, and documentation of events.
Events & Convenings
Support communication and outreach for events such as CivicSabha, roundtables, webinars, and workshops.
Assist with on-ground documentation, social media coverage, and post-event dissemination.
Coordination & Documentation
Maintain mailing lists, stakeholder databases, and shared content repositories.
Support preparation of communication trackers, calendars, and reports.
Assist the communications lead in day-to-day coordination and follow-ups.
Benefits
Remuneration: ₹20,000 - 25,000 per month (based on experience)
Location: Delhi, in-person, with travel to other states in India, if required (reimbursable)
Duration: Minimum 6 months, with possibility of extension or conversion to full-time based on performance and mutual agreement
