WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES)...
The Community-Based Work Experience (CBWE) role provides individuals receiving services through Newport Mental Health (NMH) and authorized by the Rhode Island Office of Rehabilitation Services (ORS) with a structured, temporary, and paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a community employment setting. The CBWE is intended to help participants explore career interests, build workplace confidence, develop job readiness skills, and prepare for competitive community employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in assigned work activities and job duties at the host worksite.
- Arrive on time, maintain regular attendance, and communicate appropriately about scheduling needs.
- Follow workplace policies, procedures, safety expectations, and supervisor direction.
- Demonstrate professional behavior, respectful communication, and willingness to learn.
- Work collaboratively with host-site supervisors, coworkers, NMH staff, and ORS representatives.
- Accept coaching and feedback to strengthen job-specific skills and workplace readiness.
