Job Description



Community Coordinator
Location: Bengaluru Urban & Rural
Reporting To: Project Coordinator / Senior Manager
Working Hours: Field-Based (as per mobile van visit schedule)
Travel Requirement: Daily travel to community locations in rural and urban areas


Job Purpose:

To support the implementation of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) activities by identifying persons with disabilities (PwDs), delivering field-based interventions, facilitating assistive services, and bridging the gap between therapy teams and community needs for inclusive rehabilitation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct CBR-based assessments and assist in developing community-linked rehabilitation plans.
  • Identify individuals in need of therapy, assistive devices, or specialized referrals.
  • Educate and train families and caregivers on disability management and home-based rehabilitation strategies.
  • Facilitate the distribution, demonstration, and follow-up on the effective use of assistive devices and adaptive technologies.
  • Map and maintain an inventory of local resources, services, and facilities accessible to PwDs.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure sustained use of rehabilitation aids and appropriate care practices.
  • Maintain case documentation including assessments, referrals, progress notes, and outcomes.
  • Act as a field-level liaison between therapy teams and the local community to ensure timely service delivery.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certification in Community-Based Rehabilitation Training (CCRT) or equivalent recognized course.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of field experience in disability-focused or community rehabilitation programs.
  • Basic knowledge of the CBR matrix across domains: health, education, livelihood, social inclusion, and empowerment.
  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with community members and local bodies.
  • Local language proficiency (Kannada preferred) and cultural sensitivity.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong field engagement and community facilitation abilities.
  • Practical understanding of disability, accessibility, and inclusive development.
  • Ability to demonstrate and train others in using mobility aids and assistive devices.
  • Effective coordination, planning, and documentation skills.
  • Empathetic, patient-centred approach with good interpersonal skills.
  • Technological comfort for basic data entry and use of mobile-based reporting tools.


Flexibility:

  • Willingness to travel daily to remote, underserved, and interior locations.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic community environments such as homes, Anganwadi’s, and local institutions.
  • Flexibility in working hours, especially during health camps, outreach events, or special drives.
  • Ability to adapt to field challenges, including weather, terrain, and logistical constraints.




Requirements

  • good understanding of disability, Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR), and assistive devices.
  • Strong communication, counselling, and community mobilization skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge with experience in mobile/web-based data entry and documentation.
  • Fluency in Kannada; knowledge of English is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Bengaluru Urban and Rural areas.
  • Ability to work independently in field settings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Empathetic, organized, and committed to delivering quality community-based rehabilitation services.
  • Good govt stakeholders communication
