East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWG) has an opening for a Community Engagement & Local Government Services Manager in the Communications & Engagement Department in an agency that plays a major role in shaping the future vitality of the St. Louis bi-state region. This position will report directly to the Director of Communications & Engagement. This position will ensure smooth day-to-day operations of an office of five staff members responsible for all EWG internal and external communications and public engagement, including all products outlined in the agency's Public Information Plan. This position includes direct management of two communications specialists.
The successful candidate must possess exceptional organizational and planning skills, excellent writing and editing capabilities, strong people skills and managerial capabilities, active information gathering skills, and unwavering attention to detail and accuracy. The department is responsible for many products and projects, including a weekly newsletter, a monthly internal newsletter, active social media platforms, digital presentations, written reports, an annual report, event programs, fact sheets, fliers, graphics, website content, and internal record-keeping and organizational tools. The department also works independently or with consultants to conduct public engagement events and supplementary materials.
This position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited, four-year college or university with major course work in public relations, journalism, or a directly related field, at least one year of demonstrated managerial experience, and at least three years of experience in position(s) that include intensive writing and editing for multiple audiences and project management. Candidates with past positions in journalism, public relations, or external communications with demonstrated proficiency in relevant technical tools are preferred. A master's degree in directly related field may be substituted for a maximum of 1 year of experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and education.

The salary for this position begins at $74,500 annually.
